Edmunds.com carried out the dream comparison test for many a Gran Turismo 4 player by placing the game against the real life cars on the same tracks. This has been done before, but not with such a variety of vehicles. They pitted a real life Ford GT, a Dodge Neon SRT-4, Ford Mustang GT, a Mazda RX-8 and a Mitsubishi Lancer Evo against their in-game counterparts on the famous Laguna Seca track.
